Tahsil Office ,Washim

All services under the Revenue Department e.g. 7/12, quasi-judicial cases, land revenue cases. – Tehsil is an administrative division of a district, called Taluka in Marathi. – The head of this division is the Tehsildar—he is responsible for revenue collection, land registration, and implementation of various administrative schemes.

Tehsildar (Taluka Magistrate – TM)

Role:
Chief civil officer of the taluka responsible for revenue, executive, and partly judicial functions, implementing government policies under sub-divisional officers.


1. Revenue and Executive Functions

A. Coordination and Supervision

  • Coordinates between revenue board officers and sub-divisional officers.

  • Ensures work completion by revenue board officers.

B. Revenue Related Functions

  • Monitors land revenue assessment.

  • Recovers revenue fines on private and government land.

  • Conducts direct revenue proceedings.

C. Representative Powers

  • Exercises powers delegated by the District Magistrate under specific laws.

  • Conducts judicial proceedings under the Mamlatdar Court.

D. Government Property Management

  • Protects government property.

  • Prevents encroachment on government land.

  • Manages violations of tenancy conditions.

E. Land Revenue Collection

  • Handles non-farm assessment and levy.

  • Issues revenue orders.

  • Controls and monitors revenue collection.

F. Land Acquisition

  • Actively participates in the land acquisition process.


2. Crop and Demarcation Work

  • Inspects crops and land boundaries.

  • Verifies crop production estimates.

  • Verifies documents needed for concessions.


3. Developmental Coordination

  • Coordinates between departments like Revenue, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Public Health.

  • Oversees the implementation of developmental plans in the taluk

Washim city was the capital of the Vakataka kingdom. The Vakataka kings ruled from the 30th century to the 6th century. This kingdom extended from Madhya Pradesh to Berar and Andhra Pradesh. Vindhya-Shakti was the first king of Vakataka. King Sarvasena declared Vatsagulma (Vashim) as the capital. His two books Harivijaya and Gatha Saptashadi are famous. There are evidences that the caves at Ajanta were encouraged by the Vakataka king himself. Also, the earlier name of Washim district was Vatsagulma. Washim Tehsil Office is located at the headquarters of Washim district. There are a total of 09 revenue mandals under the Washim Tehsil Office.
