Washim district is an aspirational district and there are a total of 145 lakes of Irrigation/Minor Irrigation Department in the district with a water area of 6966 hectares. A total of 153 fisheries cooperative societies are registered on these lake reservoirs and the total number of fishermen members in them is 5117. Also, a total of 430 lakes are owned by the Zilla Parishad in Washim district. The rivers Painganga, Arunavati, Adan, Pus, Nirguna, Bembla, Katepurna flow through Washim district and the total length of the rivers in the district is 315 kilometers. The annual fish production in the district in the year 2023-24 is 5952.54 metric tons.
