Malegaon Jahangir is a town located in Malegaon Taluka of Washim Sub-Division, within Washim District, Maharashtra. This town lies on the State Highway that connects southeastern Maharashtra and Vidarbha to South India.

Malegaon is situated on the main road between Washim and Mehkar, making it a major junction for road transportation.

Tahsildar – Taluka Magistrate (Malegaon Taluka)

The Tahsildar is also referred to as the Taluka Magistrate. In Malegaon, the Tahsildar serves as the chief officer of the Taluka. The Tahsildar functions under the supervision of the District Collector and is responsible for the implementation and coordination of government policies.

Their responsibilities broadly cover Revenue, Executive, and Judicial matters.


Revenue and Executive Functions

Coordination and Supervision

  • Acts as a coordinator between the District Collector and the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO).

  • Ensures effective implementation of revenue-related and supply-related work through Naib Tahsildars and Inspection Officers.

Revenue Administration

  • Supervises and monitors the entire process — from land valuation to recovery of land revenue, including penalties from both private and government lands.

Delegated Powers

  • The Tahsildar is granted specific powers under various laws by the District Collector.

  • These powers enable the Tahsildar to function as an Assistant District Magistrate in revenue matters.

Government Property Management

  • Ensures protection of government properties, prevention of encroachments, and handles violations of lease conditions related to government land.

Land Revenue

  • Manages assessment of non-agricultural land, passes various revenue-related orders, and monitors the recovery of government dues.

Land Acquisition

  • Actively participates in the land acquisition process under relevant government schemes and legal provisions.

Judicial Revenue Matters

  • Functions as a quasi-judicial authority for deciding revenue-related cases at the Taluka level.

Crop and Boundary Inspection

  • Inspects crops and boundary markers (Hadbandi).

  • Verifies crop yield estimates for determining eligibility for subsidies and revenue concessions.


Developmental Functions

  • Ensures coordination of departmental officers at the Taluka level from the following departments:

    • Revenue

    • Agriculture

    • Animal Husbandry

    • Public Health
